قسم شبكات الحاسوب متخصص في دراسة شبكات الحاسوب إبتداءا من معرفة أنواع الشبكات و أهميتها و كيفية تصميمها و الألية المتبعة في التصميم مرورا بمعرفة البروتوكولات التي تعمل في هذه الشبكات و طرق برمجتها و أخيرا قياس الجودة للشبكات و طريقة تصميم و إدراة هذه الشبكات و كيفية حمايتها و الاليات و البروتوكولات المستخدمة للحماية و ينتهي هذا البرنامج بمشروع تخرج يقوم به الطالب ليعطي خلاصة ما تعلمه خلال هذه الفترة من الدراسة .

1- إعداد الكفاءات و المهارات العلمية في مجال الشبكات لتلبية حاجات المجتمع .
2- تقديم الاستشارات الفنية لمؤسسات الدولة و المجتمع المدني.
3- إنشاء شراكات مع المؤسسات التعليمية المناضرة و المؤسسات العاملة في مجال تقنية المعلومات لدعم برامجنا التعليمية والتدريبية .
إقامة المؤتمرات و الندوات و ورشات العمل و الدورات في مختلف مجالات تقنية المعلومات بشكل عام و ومجال الشبكات بشكل خاص .

يتخرج الطالب من قسم الشبكات و هو على دراية كافية بأنواع الشبكات و طرق تصميمها و إدارتها و حماية هذه الشبكات لكي يستطيع تصميم و إدارة شبكات مختلفة و معرفة أي نوع من هذه الشبكات يمكنه الاستفادة منها في مجال عمله .

This course addresses the topics of Quality of Service (QoS) and efficiency in networks, topics include: introduction to Internet and wireless networks. QoS architectures for the Internet including IntServ, RSVP, and Diffserv; different classes of services and their QoS requirements; algorithms to provide QoS, traffic policing and traffic shaping algorithms; leaky bucket algorithms; algorithms to provide QoS locally including scheduling algorithms (FIFO, RR, WRR), queuing algorithms (RED, WRED, RIO, CBQ); classification of routing protocols in communication networks from the QoS perspective, routing protocols for ad hoc networks and QoS offered by each one; understanding the effect of QoS parameters (delay, jitter delay, percentage of packet losses, throughput) and QoS metrics (distance, available bandwidth, delay, jitter delay, losses, load) on the network performance.
