حول قسم الترجمة والتعريب

استحدث قسم الترجمة في كلية اللغات / جامعة طرابلس اعتباراً من مطلع العام الجامعي 2008 م، ثم صار جزء من كلية اللغات بعد انبعاثها وولادتها من جديد،  وجاء تأسيس القسم نظرا للحاجة الماسة لتوفير المترجمين المؤهلين في كافة مجالات الترجمة التحريرية والشفوية وخدمة المؤتمرات والندوات ولتشجيع حركة النقل من اللغات الأجنبية إلى العربية وبالعكس، وقد تم تخريج الدفعة الأولى من طلبة القسم في نهاية العام الجامعي 2012م.

وكانت البداية مقتصرة على النقل من الإنجليزية وإليها ويسعى القسم حاليا إلى إدخال اللغة الفرنسية اعتبارا من الفصل الدراسي خريف 2015م، كما يطرح القسم من خلال طلبته،  أنشطة في الترجمة تخدم المؤسسات الوطنية والشركات والسفارات الأجنبية في طرابلس.

ويقوم على التدريس في القسم حاليا اثني عشر عضو من أعضاء هيئة تدريس من خريجي الجامعات البريطانية والأكاديمية الليبية (1) بدرجة أستاذ  و(1) بدرجة أستاذ مشارك و(1)بدرجة أستاذ مساعد(2) بدرجة محاضرو(7) بدرجة مساعد محاضر من المتخصصين في حقل الترجمة. كما يضم القسم عدد (4) أربعة أعضاء بدرجة مساعد محاضر موفدين للدراية ببريطانيا وعدد (19) تسعة عشر معيد سوف يتم إيفادهم لاستكمال الدراسة بالجامعات الغربية المرموقة في تخصصات الترجمة وتكنولوجيا الترجمة وذلك لتلبية حاجة القسم ولتحقيق طموحاته المستقبلية.

Dialects on Screen: Translating Jordanian Dialect into English The Case of Captain Abu Raed Film

This article explores the translation of dialects on-screen within the Jordanian context. Such place of translation is arguably one of the most challenging areas of translation, yet interesting due to its variety. Arab peoples use their dialects to express their opinions on several platforms, including TV media. Audiovisual translation research is growing in investigating subtitling Arabic dialects and languages on screen. Scholars propose a dialect-to-dialect approach or a dialect-to-standard approach. However, in this paper the focus is more on the strategies which inevitably fall within those approaches. The study uses a Jordanian film known as Captain Abu Raed as a source of highlighting and demonstrating translation of dialects within an Arabic context. The initial findings show that some dialectal expressions are taken off or sacrificed by replacing them with neutralized standard language.

Using Address Terms in showing Politeness with Reference to Their Translation from Arabic into English

This paper aims to investigate the translation of address terms between Arabic and English. Those terms belong to different systems in both languages. Certain characteristics of an address term in one culture tend to be lost when translated into another. Therefore, politeness theory will be used in order to find out whether the politeness intended by using an address term is transferred into the target language or not. For this study, a number of address terms are selected from a novel, Madiq Alley. Those terms are delivered to a number of subjects in a questionnaire. The analysis points out the use of such systems and how each system applies different politeness strategies to show respect and deference. The findings indicate that some patterns of face-work are lost in the translation process and that the relational terms of address are more challenging to translate than the absolute ones.

Lexical & Syntactic Characteristics of English Legal Texts & Methodology of Achieving Translation Equivalence in Target Language

Legal translation is considered as part of the technical translation in the field of law. Legal discourse is characterized by the presence of a wide-range terminology which is easy to people familiar with it and difficult to those who are unfamiliar with and with its unique lexical/syntactic features. Translators of legal-related material are expected to hold knowledge of the characteristics of such discourse and methods for achieving equivalence in the target language. This paper is to put focus on the common lexical and syntactic problematic aspects of English legal texts, and to spot light on the methodology of legal translation & process of achieving equivalencein target language, with special reference to functional equivalence being suggested by many theoreticians for reproducing the „legal effect‟ in the target text while preserving the fidelity of the source.Text-foreignization /domestication strategies,the intersemiotic and intrasemiotic translation procedures and the principle of fidelity to the source legal text are some other aspects to be tackled arabic 18 English 110
